Winning isn’t everything, but it sure is fun! With so many people watching the Food Network Holiday Baking Championship Season 2 reruns, I continue to get questions about what kept me going and motivated to win – especially after so many blunders and fumbles. Bottomline, I stayed focused on what I knew were my strengths[…]
A #RedFlagMoment Became My New Year’s Resolution Yes, even I have had a #RedFlagMoment or two, or several. Mine often happen in the kitchen when I’m creating a new recipe or putting together a large event. I take those moments and turn them in to personal learning opportunities. A recent #RedFlagMoment became one of my[…]
I learned a lot about myself. I already knew I was an uber competitor, for me Insanity + Craziness = (My) Passion. What I learned from being on the FOOD NETWORK Holiday Baking Championship is that those things can get in the way if you lose focus on what you do, why you do it,[…]

Creating a Decorative Pear The Food Network referred to is as the “immaculate pear” but it’s actually fairly simple to do and can be created with different types of skinned fruits. I prefer to use a pear because it’s unique shape adds to the beauty of how the final product turns out. After you watch[…]

Holiday Baking Championship Episode 7: Re-Gifting Re-gifting, you’ve done it. Come on, admit it. Well guess what the theme is for this Sunday’s Holiday Baking Championship? You got it, re-gifting! The remaining bakers and I are tasked with making a candy apple dessert inspired by a candy apple gift and then we have to turn[…]
Owner and Executive Chef of Sugar and Scribe Bakery
Laughter, butter and passion meets Navy Seals Hell Week... that's my life! It’s so important to have passion and creativity, but there has to be one vision that a team focuses on delivering everyday, without fail. Each morning starts with coffee, a good joke and a very long list that has to be accomplished with complete perfection by 10 a.m. Doing everything from scratch is critical for my vision, and being consistent can be a challenge. That’s why my staff is amazing. As a team, we can accomplish painting the world with frosting.
Come visit me at Sugar and Scribe Bakery in La Jolla, CA and taste the difference!
